How to Install Windows 7 with Flashdisk for Beginners (Complete + Pictures)

This tutorial is about how to install Windows 7 using a USB flash drive. Given that most netbooks today are not equipped with a DVD drive. This makes netbook users have difficulty when they want to install an operating system, such as the Windows operating system on their netbook.

Therefore, installing Windows 7 using a flash disk is the right solution for netbook users and for those of you who have difficulty when you want to reinstall Windows 7 because your DVD drive has a problem.

To make a bootable flash, I usually use Rufus because its use is simple and fast.

First, prepare a flash drive with a minimum capacity of 4GB and an ISO file of Windows 7, if you don't have it, please download it here. Actually how big the capacity of the flash depends on the type of operating system that we want to install. Okay, here are the steps to make a bootable flash drive:

How to Install Windows 7 with Flashdisk

1. First, please download the software here.

2. Insert your flash drive then open the Rufus application. Your device will be automatically detected as shown below.

3. Click the CD drive image to select the Windows ISO file location. Then click Open.

4. Rufus will automatically change the file system from FAT32 to NTFS. You can also change the name of the drive in the new Volume label (optional). Then click Start.

5. A notification will appear that all data contained on the drive will be formatted, so make sure all important data has been backed up. Then click OK.

6. This process takes approximately 20 minutes. This application is very fast, but it all depends on how big the size of the operating system and the flash speed used.

7. Done! Your flash drive can now be used for Windows installation media. Then click Close.

The Windows installation media is ready. The next step you have to do is set the BIOS to boot from the flash the first time. This is done so that the first device that is read at the beginning of booting is a flash drive.

BIOS settings to boot from Pendrive

1. Do not remove the bootable flash drive earlier. Leave it in a state installed on your computer / laptop.

2. Restart the computer/laptop, then press the DEL (Delete) key to enter the BIOS menu. The most common keys used to enter the BIOS menu are DEL, F1, F2, or Fn+F2, depending on the manufacturer of your laptop/motherboard.

3. You will see the BIOS menu display as shown below. After that, move to the Boot tab by using the keys ◄ ►.

4. The following image shows that the above device is a HDD. So your computer/laptop will boot from HDD the first time.

5. In order for your computer/laptop to boot from flash for the first time, you must place Removable Devices at the top of the list. You do this by selecting Removable Devices, then sliding it using the +/- button until it is at the top as shown below.

6. Then press F10 to save the settings and exit the BIOS menu.
