First Aid for Motorcycles Affected by Floods

First Aid for Motorcycles Affected by Floods

What is the first thing we do when the motor is flooded and breaks down?

What to do when the motor is flooded and breaks down, namely:

- Find a safe place, ie a place that is not affected by flooding.

- Open and remove the spark plug (Ignition Off), clean and dry the spark plug, then crank the kick starter several times to remove the water that enters the combustion chamber, then reinstall the drained spark plug.

- Open and remove the air filter.

- If the motorcycle is still using the carburetor, unscrew the exhaust bolt on the carburetor and let the fuel in the carburetor drain out. Then close the carburetor drain bolt again.

- Position the motorcycle in a jump state (standard position in the middle, the rear seat is pressed until the rear wheels touch the ground and the front wheels lift) to remove the water in the exhaust.

- Do not forget to check the engine oil whether it is mixed with water or not. If it is mixed with water, then the oil must be drained.

- After that, try to start the motorcycle.

My advice is to take the motorbike to the nearest repair shop, so that a thorough check is carried out, including the engine area, whether water enters the engine. That's my information, I hope it's useful.

Thank you.
